Featured Artist/Band

Introduction

Emerging from the heart of Lubbock, Texas, the Clay Clear Band is making significant strides in the local music scene with their authentic blend of country, Southern rock, and Americana. Known for their high-energy performances and heartfelt songwriting, they've become a staple in West Texas venues, captivating audiences with their genuine sound and stage presence.

Band Details

The Clay Clear Band is fronted by a crew of seasoned musicians, each bringing serious chops and a love of Texas music:

  • Clay Clear – Lead Vocals, Rhythm Guitar

  • Corey Dillard – Drums, Backing Vocals

  • Jaydon Gonzales – Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals

  • Dave Hobbs – Bass, Backing Vocals

Together, they pull influences from legends like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Chris Stapleton, while adding a modern twist that makes their sound both familiar and fresh. Expect gritty guitar work, soulful vocals, and a rhythm section that brings the thunder.

Origin Story

The band began with frontman Clay Clear’s drive to create music that was both emotionally authentic and irresistibly fun. What started as solo shows and songwriter sessions quickly evolved into a full-blown band project, attracting top-tier local talent. Since then, they’ve hit the road hard, earning opening slots for national touring acts and headlining local festivals and dance halls across West Texas and beyond.

Current Projects

In 2024, the Clay Clear Band released their debut EP, "One Night Rodeo," which features fan favorites like “Mustang Wine” and “Far From Sober.” They’ve followed it up with a rigorous show calendar, playing venues like The Garden, Charley B’s, and multiple West Texas fairs.

They’re currently back in the studio working on their next batch of songs, which Clay describes as “Texas storytelling with teeth.” Expect new singles to drop later this year, along with an expanded regional tour.

Personal Touch

The band is known to hang out and grab tacos after shows at Taqueria Jalisco, a local favorite just off Slide Road. When they’re not on stage, you might catch them out supporting other local musicians — they’re part of a tight-knit scene that celebrates collaboration over competition.

A fun behind-the-scenes quirk? They warm up before every show by blasting 80s hair metal in the green room — think Bon Jovi meets honky-tonk.
